Grace Through Suffering

Scripture Reading. 1 Peter 2:19-25

If there is one thing that brings apprehension to me is the thought of suffering. Yet I am very aware that suffering is part of this life and that it is also one of the main things God uses to bring us to obedience. In Hebrews it tells us that even the Lord Jesus learned obedience through suffering. (Hebrews 5:8) I have a special admiration for those who handle suffering patiently and calmly. Suffering comes in many forms; physical, emotional and mental. It comes naturally, through genetics, through accidental events, through divine appointment and through the actions of others. The one that I suppose is the hardest to deal with, is when it is caused through the actions of those whom you love or by fellow believers. When this occurs we need to be careful not to react but to commit ourselves to God and don't in any manner seek revenge. The Lord exhorts to pray for them. To forgive them. To be kind to them. 1 Peter 2:23 tells us the Lord Jesus, "Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:" Let us seek to be like our LORD. MY PRAYER. Oh Lord I pray for those who are suffering especially because of the actions of others. May you give them grace to respond like our LORD Jesus. In His grace
